team-development tips

In today’s business climate it becomes more and more clear that we must create an open path within our communities of clear communication to and from our team members.
You may have a strategy in place to achieve this however it might be wise to step outside of that framework once in a while, and offer an alternate method of participation. These methods can offer unique and insightful information on the way people process information, capabilities for delivering information, how they interact with others, how they feel about a particular topic, even how they think in terms of creating solutions. These are some of the benefits of conducting team-building activities.
On the simplest level team-building events allow members to relax outside of their typical work environment and meet up on a social level. Many events end at that - building a little comradery, you may even garner a little info that wasn’t forthcoming in the formal corporate environment, and goodwill (particularly if the beverages and food are included lol).
Imagine taking your activity further and holding a team-development event that has residual effects for team-members AND management.
Consider :
. setting a goal, objective or purpose to the event;
then plan:
. an activity that is outside of your teams’ norm ie not at a desk, not on a computer, not meeting on zoom;
. an event that can be tailored to your purpose;
. physical participation;
. a take-away item that each participant will keep to remind them of the event and reenforce outcomes.
That makes it a win-win!
